Earlier this week, Canadian Finance Minister Joe Oliver made several announcements regarding budget. Not only did Oliver announce that he will be tabling his budget in the House of Commons later this month on Tuesday, April 21st, he also provided details on a second bill that he will be tabling in April as well. Oliver will propose a balanced budget legislation, explaining that this new bill would prevent future governments from running a deficit, except for in certain circumstances, including a recession, war or natural disaster.
Oliver also announced that the budget he will be tabling this month will be balanced, which will be the Harper government’s first balanced budget in eight years.
